Book Haul- Spring 2015

Hello everyone!

This blog post will be my first ever book haul. :) *how exciting* :P
I love books and reading and I need a parallel universe where I have got the time to read all the books I want to read. Everyone who enjoys reading as much as I do understands my struggle... so many books and so little time. *sigh*
But let´s get started on the books I have purchased recently. So, here we go:

First of all as you all know I went to "Sherlocked- The Official Sherlock Convention" in April and I couldn´t resist to buy a lot of stuff at the BBC Shop they had there. So, besides other things I bought all the Sherlock Holmes books by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle that I didn´t already own. They are all in the new edition with Covers from the TV Series as well as introductions by the Cast and Crew. I really like how they look and I am certainly looking forward to finally reading the original Sherlock Holmes stories. (Yes, I know, it´s shocking that I as a big Sherlock Fan haven´t read them yet but I will. And just for the record I have read the first Sherlock Holmes Case which is "A Study in Scarlet".)

Next on to a completely different genre: A few weeks ago I was just casually walking through a bookshop when a book caught my attention. I purchased "The Eye of Minds" by James Dashner because... well, because it´s James Dashner. I really liked the "Maze Runner"-Series (although there were quite a few things that bothered me but if you want to know my full spoiler-free opinion on it you should check out my book review on the "Maze Runner" which you can do here:
http://lifeofafangirl46.blogspot.de/2015/05/the-scorch-trials-trailer.html). I didn´t know about "The Eye of Minds" until I saw it in the shop and I thought why not give it a go? as I really like Dashners style of writing.
So this book is about Michael and his friends who are really into the VirtNet which is a game where everything is possible. Michael has some really developed hacking skills and so it is even more fun to play this game. But when another gamer starts to take people as hostages inside the VirtNet and is able to harm them even outside of the game, virtualitiy and realitiy get a little mixed up and Michael and his friends have to find a way to stop him.

At the same bookshop I also bought a book called "A Darker Shade of Magic" by V.E. Schwab. I saw this one metioned in one of the videos I watched on YouTube so I thought I´d pick it up as well.
"A Darker Shade of Magic" is about Kell, one of the last magicians who are able to travel between parallel universes. Apparently they are all connected by the magical city of London and he has to carry letters between the different monarchs of each London. But when he meets Delilah she forces him to take her on an adventure which turns into a mission to save all the universes.
That sounds like a perfect book for me: There´s Magic, there are parallel universes and it takes place in London. What else would you want??

As it was my birthday I got a lot of awesome stuff and one of my friends gave me a copy of "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. I have watched the first movie when it came out in 2012 but I wasn´t very much into it. My friend really likes the books and recommended them to me, so I thought it was really kind of her to buy me the first book of the series. For all of you who don´t know "The Hunger Games". It is about Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a distopian world and takes her sisters place in the 74th Hunger Games in which she has to fight for survival against other teenagers. They are forced by the government to kill eachother in order to find one winner.

Soo, now onto the last two books I have purchased this spring. (Actually I bought them today, so that technically doesn´t quite count as spring anymore but I will just add them here as it is a book haul :))

I have seen both of them being recommended a lot on BookTube lately  and as they both sound really interesting to me I of course had to buy them.
The first one I picked up is "Throne of Glass" by Sarah J. Maas which is about a trained assassin, Celaena, who gets caught by a young Captain who offers her a deal in which she has to represent the price in a to-the-death tournament in order to get her freedom in return. Everyone has been talking about this book and how badass the main character is, so I got curious and am really looking forward to read it.

And the last book I will write about in this haul is "Red Queen" by Victoria Aveyard which has also been talked about by a lot of BookTubers lately. This book is about a world which is split into Reds and Silvers. The Reds are normal people like you and me but the Silvers are in possession of god-like superpowers which enable them to rule over the Reds. This is until Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red discovers that despite her red blood she posseses a superpower of her own.

Soo, that´s it for this weeks Blog post. I hope you enjoyed reading it. I am certainly looking forward to reading all of the books metioned above. So stay tuned for updates and book reviews.
You will hear from me very soon. :)

Sarah
